Wales 2000 - International Youth Exchange April 2000

This was a revisit, 10 young people from Norway visited Wales and a group of 15 Welsh, some of these had been in Norway in 1999 and some would be coming on the exchange in 2000.

Main aim of the exchange:

To encourage the participants: to recognise their own heritage and culture, and to accept that of others.  

Part aims:

Reinforce the already established relationship between the participants
- Participate in team building activities at Storey Arms
- Learn practical skills, such as kayaking, climbing, gorge waqlking etc. together
- Learn about how it is to be young in Wales/Barry
- Through practical experiences such as visit Youth Information Centre, school visit, home stay nights, social evening in Cardiff

Gain insight in the political systems of the two countries and young people's influence on this
•  Visit the Welsh Assembly
•  Discussions in small and large groups

Gain insight in the history & culture of both Wales and Norway
•  Visit the museum of Welsh life & Rhonda Heritage park
•  Learn about restoration and cultural heritage protection work in Wales
•  Discuss impressions, differences, similarities
