Summary of Evaluation forms
Winterexchange, Norway 2004
Why did you choose to come to participate in this exchange ?
To help others and to experience Norway
To see Norway, try skiing, meet new people
As a volunteer here it was a great opportunity for me to get to experience
more
Because I needed a challenge and needed to get out a bit. To improve my
English
I heard about it almost a year ago and it seemed very interesting to me
An opportunity to try wintersports
To do something I had never done before
To learn new skills, meet people and to enjoy myself
I came to learn something new and to meet and help people
Because I wanted to meet new people and experience new things
This is a part of what I am studying and so a great experience for me
I wanted a challenge and to learn new things
I am a volunteer, good for me good for the rest
I am a volunteer here and I wanted to join the exchange becase I thought
it would be a great experience, and it was!

For both yes and no please explain why:
Because I have met some great people whilst being here
They have become good friends
They are now good friends and I hope to go visiting them
To keep the memories alive and to stay in contact with those that are
interesting
I will see a few in my period here in Norway
Because I got on with them
Because it is good to talk with them
I have made new friends here and we will miss each other
Bercause I’ve really hit it off with them
It’s been brilliant to meet people from all over and I have made many
interesting friends
It would be a waste to have made such good friends and not to stay in
contact
The show must go on!!
Because you cannot simply forget everybody and people are great
Do you think you learnt anything during this exchange, if so what?
That language barriers is no obstacle to become friends
To ski, about other cultures
How to take care of each other, have fun with people you do not know yet,
how to communicate in different languages
About other people and about myself, nothing can be fast enough (activities)
People from other countries are different from Norwegians
I will probably realise more after the exchange, for now I have realised
how much fun it is to be in an exchange with som many different
nationalities and people. It was very nice to get to be with those not as
fortunate as me
I learnt to ski, climb and how to do a jump off a cliff
Tobaggoing and other things
I have learnt a lot about the courage and enthusiasm of the people with
disabilities. I have gained an insight in Italian and Norwegian culture
Yes!!! Italian, cultural appreciation, to ski, to line dance, tolerance of
differences etc
Yes, not to take everything for granted, about how easy things can be if
you put your mind to it.
Snowboarding. Deal with everybody, sometimes easier with disabled people.
Who is normal???
I learnt a lot about Welsh and Italian people and habits, about
winteractivities and a lot about disabled people (especially blind people)
What was your best moment of the exchange?
Staying up speaking to an Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Dutch, French
till 05.30
The snowrafting and jumping off the cliff, I was really scared, but glad I
did it
So many, jumping off the cliff, skiing, talking with everybody
To be social, skicart, snowrafting, party party, zipline
To be together with so many nice people and see them "Breaking Boundries"
Learning to ski, even though I am no good I really enjoyed it, it was a
real challenge
All of it, just being here
Doing the cliff jump because it proved that I can do it to myself and my
family, I was incredibly brave
Meeting new people and tobogganing
Although very scary, the cliff jump was the best, I was really amazed when
Marius jumped off the cliff TWICE. A brilliant moment.
Manuele shouting HARRY POTTER, when Roger said that no person had ever
survived seeing a troll.
Socialising with new friends
Meeting so many new friends and being able to learn skiing in a really
short time
Managing to snowboard
Absailing, but all the week was simply great
What was the worst moment of the exchange?
Saying goodbye and going home
Going home
Being so tired
Hangover one morning
No bad moments yet
The living arrangements, I was alone with two Italians that did not speak
English, I felt excluded from my room
None
When I tripped on my skis and fell on the road
When I fell off the toboggan in the slope
Loosing my wallet and mobile, everything we did as a group was fantastic
When the igloo broke
It’s not happened yet, but leaving everyone will be awful
I’m always tired
The departure, one week is not enough
When did you learn the most about other cultures, people, language and
countries?
All the time
The themed nights and just socialising
The meals and just socialising
All the time during the week
All the week, all the time
Get to know games and cultural evenings
All the time
When doing activities with people from all the countries
When we did mixed group activities
The national evenings was a good thing, but I cannot say that there was
any particular moment. Everyday was a learning curve giving new insights
to other cultures
Through the other people here, the cultural evenings were interesting
All the time, whatever we did and wherever we went, especially the time we
had for socialising (evenings and nights)
At food time, and when I had to translate and I don’t speak Italian, this
is hard
All during the week, especially when socialising and speaking with people
in the evening.
The official language of this exchange was English, how could we have
improved communication with the participants and leaders whos knowledge of
English made it more difficult to communicate equally
I do not know, I think that we all communicated well, everyone tried
to use each others language
Nothing, I thought Mac and Cesare were great interpreters
Using more body language
To be more strict about the language level of those coming here
Be more strict about the level of English required
Communication was fairly good considering all the languages and nations we
had
The language barrier was the biggest problem, I think that the leaders did
everything possible to keep the balance and everybody well informed.
Even though I did not understand a thing of the Italian translations it
was great fun just to watch them, especially before the meal at the
Italian night and Mac’s translations of the Norwegian fairy tale
We English only speakers should learn some key phrases
It would have been better if we English could speak another language
If we smile we do not need to talk
Hopefully the translators were good, but they were not always there and it
made it difficult to speak with each other. But there was always a
solution.
The main aim of this exchange was to promote social inclusion(equal
opportunities for all), do you think that this has been achieved? Please
explain your view.
Yes I do, mostly because everyone was made able to do the same things
Yes I do, because everybody could do the same things, even those not able
to do them without help
Yes I think so, we have spent a great week doing activities for everybody
I think it vas very good, you cannot include all disabled 100 %. I am
happy
It was a bit difficult because of the language problems of the Italians,
but it was getting better all the time by encouraging and trying
Yes, less able people were included in the group and they were able to
take part in activities usually not open to them
Yes, because different nationalities and disabled people were involved
Yes, it was well planned, everyone got to do something
I think that we got to do what we wanted to do, some activities were not
so sociable
Yes, where it was possible everybody got to participate
Yes, everybody smiled for most of the week
Yes, very much so, everyone interacted so well, I do not think there is a
bad word to be said about anyone, as everybody always tried to include
everybody else
Of course, but that is not by chance
Everything was don e so that everybody participated in all activities

Please comment on any of the above
Every person here was great
The leaders were exellent, I felt safe when putting my life in their hands
I had some problems with my room mates
The food was nice and there was a great variety to choose from
I was very pleased with all above
The weather was nice and warm, not at all what I expected, everything was
well organised
All was perfect and well organised
Everything and everybody was lovely
What could have been improved as regards making access to activities
better?None
Maybe to drop some of the activities, i.e the igloo building
Nothing
Nothing
I do not know
All the activities were available to everybody so I do not think that
acess could have been better
As all of the activities took place where they did it was nothing that
could be done to improve them
Do you have any further comments you would like to make
Takk for oss!!
Italia UNO – the Italians were so funny
Next time one person from each nation should sleep in each room
Thank you
Thank you very much for this opportunity
The leaders were brilliant and all their efforts were greatly appreciated.
